Rooney’s Golf Foundation Tournament To Benefit Local Charities - Ernie & Liezl Els – Honorary Chairs

West Palm Beach – Golf sensation Ernie Els and his wife Liezl will be honorary chairs for the 7th Annual Rooney’s Golf Foundation Charity Golf Tournament. The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 30th at PGA National. Local Rooney Family businesses Palm Beach Kennel Club and Rooney’s Pubs will coordinate the tournament with a committee of volunteers. This year the tournament will benefit the Autism Project of Palm Beach County (APPBC), FAU Honors College, Elite Greyhound Adoption and St. Mary’s of Pahokee. The official sponsor is Wachovia Wealth Management.

The tournament will be played at PGA National Resort & Spa on the Champion, Haig and Palmer Courses. Beginning at 10:30am, players can participate in Dr. Dunn’s Instructional class. Exciting raffles and prizes will also be available with a chance to win an Aruba Trip, great vacation getaways, Flatscreen TV and much more. The tournament gets underway at 12:30pm with a shotgun start. After the tournament, a Buffet Dinner and Awards Ceremony will be held at Rooney’s Public House at Abacoa. On Wed., Oct. 29 there will be a Sponsor and Player Appreciation Party at Rooney’s Abacoa.

Ernie Els is one of the most successful golfers in the history of the game, having won more than 60 tournaments since turning professional in 1989. This includes two US Opens and an Open Championship, and a record seven World Matchplay titles. The Els family is supporting the APPBC’s efforts to build an Autism Center of Excellence in Palm Beach Gardens.
